(905) 679-1210 (or if long distance, use (905) 529-1212) FAX - (905) 679-1211 D.A.R.T.S. service is available to persons with disabilities who are unable to access regular transit service and require the assistance of a personal mobility device (wheelchair, scooter, walker). Applications must be made through the Accessible Transportation Services department of Regional Transit. D.A.R.T.S. service is also available to qualified residents of other municipalities while they are visiting the Hamilton-Wentworth area. D.A.R.T.S. is a door to door transportation service employing wheelchair accessible buses and contracted taxi services when appropriate. Service is provided from one accessible building door entrance to another accessible building door entrance. Accessible is defined as no more than one step. Passengers are assisted in and out of vehicles. D.A.R.T.S. drivers cannot provide special assistance while the vehicle is in transit and cannot guarantee that passengers will be delivered into the hands of someone else at a drop off location. Some clients may be required to have an accompanying attendant travel with them. Hours of Service: Monday to Friday: 7:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday: 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m. Statutory Holidays: 9:30 a.m. - 11:00 p.m. Reservations: (905) 679-1225 (if Long distance use (905) 529-1225) Service availability is subject to availability of resources. All trips must be booked in advance with D.A.R.T.S. and where a requested trip time is unavailable, every effort will be made to provide an alternate accommodation. To make a reservation, please call (905) 679-1225 or (905) 529-1225 between 8:30 a.m. and 9:00 p.m., Monday to Friday. When making a reservation, please have the following information ready: Your name, passenger number, the date you require transportation, the time you wish to be picked up, your pick-up address (and accessible entrance), your destination address (and accessible entrance), your return time, whether you will be using a wheelchair, scooter or walker, whether you will be travelling with an attendant. Cancellations: (905) 679-4741 (or if long distance use (905) 529-1212) To cancel previously booked transportation, please call (905) 679-4741 or (905) 529-1212. Please telephone to cancel a pick-up at the earliest opportunity. This will allow D.A.R.T.S. to avoid unnecessary delays to service and inconvenience to other passengers. If this cancellation will be for more than one day, let us know when to resume your service. If you do not inform D.A.R.T.S. of a cancellation beforehand, a "no show" record will be kept on file at D.A.R.T.S. and you will be billed for this incident. Fares: Each passenger and attendant must pay by means of a D.A.R.T.S. ticket upon boarding the vehicle. Passengers purchase prepaid books of tickets. These are available in person from: D.A.R.T.S. Taxi Scrip Program (905) 527-3711 The Taxi Scrip program provides discounted coupons for use in any taxi company within the Region. Users book service directly with the taxi company at their convenience. Users must be registered with Accessible Transportation Services and must show the taxi driver their personal ATS Photo Identification Card each time a taxi trip is taken. The Taxi Scrip program is available to persons with disabilities who are physically unable to access regular transit service. To register for the Taxi Scrip program, call (905) 527-3711 and an application form will be mailed to you. If you are already registered for D.A.R.T.S. service, call (905) 527-3711 to arrange to have your ATS Photo Identification Card made for you. Assessment of applications and registration for accessible transportation services is carried out by the Accessible Transportation Services department of Regional Transit. Once the application form is completed, an appointment for an assessment interview may be booked. An annual program fee is due at the time of registration.
