Dial-a-Ride

Due to low ridership in certain Burlington Transit routes, full size buses are not economical to operate. To maintain service on these routes, Dial-a-Ride taxicabs operated by Burlington Taxi will respond on demand during regular transit service hours.

How Dial-a-Ride Works

If you want to travel on any of the Dial-a-Ride routes, call Dial-a-ride dispatch at (905) 333-1113, 30 minutes before you need a pick up. Tell the dispatcher when and where you will be travelling and the location of the bus stop nearest you. The dispatcher will tell you the time the taxi driver will pick you up at your bus stop. The taxicab will take you to any estination on the route or the nearest transfer point to catch a bus on the regular transit routes.

To transfer from a regular transit route to the Dial-a-Ride service, advise the bus driver when you board the bus. The driver will book your Dial-a-Ride taxi. You can also call the dispatcher before boarding the bus to minimize waiting time at the transfer point. Remember to ask your bus driver for a Dial-a-Ride transfer.

Dial-a-Ride Fare

Cash and Tickets - If you pay with cash or a ticket and you are transferring to a Burlington Transit bus, the taxi driver will give you a special Dial-a-Ride transfer to deposit into the farebox when you board the bus.

ComboCard - If you have a ComboCard, give your ComboCard Registration number to the dispatcher when you book your trip. When the taxi picks you up, show your ComboCard and give the driver your registration number. If you are transferring to a regular bus, place your Card on the ComboCard validator when you board the bus.
